APOLLO XIV. Cosmogram n°46/55 franked with the 10 cent stamp canceled with the special stamp dated Houston FEB26 1971 and on the side the stamp with purple horizontal lines of the quarantine which took place as well as the signature of the astronaut Edgar D. Mitchell who transported the envelopes on board the lunar module. The American space agency N.A.S.A. it allowed astronauts to carry with them some personal items considered the astronaut's preferred baggage.;The Apollo XIV mission crew consisted of A.B. Shepard (Mission Commander), S. A. Roosa (Module Pilot) and Edgar D. Mitchel LEM Pilot. The launch was carried out from Cape Kennedy on 1/31/1971 and the return to earth with relative landing in the Pacific took place on 2/9/1971. The mission was completely successful and the lunar module touched down on the Moon on February 5. Mitchell transported the 55 envelopes stamped with a US Air Mail stamp and returned to earth to deliver the entire batch of quarantine envelopes to Houston with the rest of his baggage. It was returned to him on 2/26/1971 after the special stamp "DELAYED IN QUARANTINE AT LUNAR RECEIVING LABORATORY M.S.C. - HOUSTON, TEXAS" was affixed by the NASA laboratory.
