1948 (August 15), 1½a - 10r Mahatma Gandhi set on private First Day Cover, large envelope (8 × 10") locally addressed in Bombay and franked with set of four Gandhi issues, the stamps neatly mounted on an illustrated card, affixed at right and tied by multiple strikes of Parel, Bombay “12” double-circle c.d.s. (15 Aug), manuscript “First Day Cover” at left, the card with attractive printed Gandhi vignette along the lower edge, cut from a "First Anniversary of Independence / Gandhi Memorial Stamps" special presentation folder, the card with some tears from usage on-cover, slight edge repairs and scattered toning clear of stamps, yet a striking and desirable first day cover. (Sc. 203-206).
