vermilion, used registered, sent from Old Calabar to Meerhout,
Belgium, dated 3 November 1899, cancelled by a oval registered "OLD
CALABAR" in black, with an additional strike alongside. Also a
framed "R" handtsamp, two different "London" registered marks in
black and violet, dated 7 and 8 December respectively, endorsed
"Registered", "Avers Station / Valeurs" dated 8 December and an
arrival cds "Meerhout" dated 9 December 1899. A Belgique
registration label number "517" has been affixed to the front.
Scarce usage (H&G 3). Comes with two other examples, one sent
to Bern, Switzerland, the other to Accra, Gold Coast, which is
cancelled by a German Sea Post oval.
