entire ...更多 1845/93: Small collection of entires/cards (6 items) with 1845 entire from Mauritius to Bordeaux via London and carried on the "Acorn" and rated "45" décimes to pay on arrival, 1855 cover with fine oval "PACKET LETTER / MAURITIUS" in black to London, 1859 cover via Southampton to Hastings with oval "PACKET LETTER / MAURITIUS" in red, 1864 stampless envelope from London to Governor Higginson's wife struck with superb "4½d." rate marking in red, France 1866 cover from Bordeaux with France 1862 10 c., 20 c. and 40 c. tied by "532" gros chiffres with blue "10d. / TO PAY" struck on arrival; and 1893 6 c. green stationery card to Arnhem carried on French ship. A fine group.

Cameroon", struck on arrival in Liverpool with fine strike of large "6d." due marking in black (Officer's rate) with Manchester cds (March 24) alongside. Reverse with circular "LIVERPOOL / B.R. PACKET" in black (March 24). Scarce. Note: The S.S. Cameroon was delivered in June 1874 by John Elder and Company for the British and African Steam Navigation Company. The Cameroon beached and was lost after hitting a rock enroute from Monrovia, Liberia to Sinu Bay, Liberia in 1904.

ROYAL NIGER COAST COMPANY / CHARTERED & LIMITED / 27 JUN 1898 /
POST OFFICE / BURUTU" in violet (Type 6). Initially erroneously
charged twice the 2½ d. rate with large "5d." in black, deleted in
blue crayon. Reverse with "LIVERPOOL / BR PACKET" cds (July 31) and
Gibraltar arrival (Aug 5) in black with note alongside "Claret
about 12/- / Burgundy 15/-". Some aging but scarce.

cover to Rochefort sur Mer, France endorsed 'voie Anglaise',
cancelled by segmented cork obliterators and by '10' décimes due
handstamp in black. Oval framed 'ST. HELENA' despatch (March 13) in
blue and London transit (April 7). Struck in London with framed "GB
2F" accountancy handstamp in black and straight line
"INSUFFICIENTLY PAID" in black. The cover was fully paid for under
¼ ounce, so found to be overweight in London and taxed '10' décimes
due on arrival. Rounded corner to envelope at lower right but a
very rare cover. Provenance: Harmers, London, 10 March 1998, lot
1586
