PORTUGUESE COLONIES Kionga Military Mail 1916 Mozambique Expeditionary Force, five covers or cards to Lisbon, one with violet handstamp indicating that the card was sent by a member of Mountain Artillery unit based at Camp Delgado, others with censor markings, "Expedicao A Macambique", also "Expedicao Militara Mocambique Servico Postal" handstamp, another with Lourenco Marques transit, etc., written-up on five exhibit pages, seldom offered (British units forced the Germans south and on 23 November, Lettow-Vorbeck crossed into Mozambique to plunder supplies from the Portuguese garrisons. The Germans fought the Battle of Ngomano in which the Portuguese were routed, then marched through Mozambique, where they won a number of important victories which allowed it to remain active)
