MACAU: 1883 (May 1): Small envelope to Lisbon, showing on reverse very fine “PAGO / EM / MACAO" Crowned Circle in black, with double-ring "Crown / MACAO" eds plus LISBON arrival cds (June 11), on front framed "PER FR. PACKET" handstamp. Envelope a little trimmed at top, couple small light ink marks and very slight ageing on address panel, opened out for display. A fine, late usage of the very rare crowned circle on envelope unusually carried to Europe by French packet rather than P&O Steamer. A neat and splendid exhibition item.

MACAU: 1836 (11 Jan) Entire written by Russell Sturgis to his wife in Macau, showing ‘St George’ annotation on front, scarce circular ‘BOAT OFFICE / 10 Cents / MACAO’ postmark in red and ink- brush delivery characters on the flap. This cancel was used on boats of Markwick Edwards & Co. St. George was one of the three boats between Canton and Macoa
