The Anglo-Boer War 1899/1902: The collection in two beautifully written up volumes (93 items) commencing with Mafeking 1900 Goodyear 1 d. pale blue used with Mafeking (May 11) cds, Small format Baden-Powell 3 d. deep blue used (May 7) each on piece (Gi 17 + 19 = £ 825); real photographs / patriotic and commemorative postcards unused and used, pictures of the personalities from Queen Victoria, Chamberlain, Roberts, Kitchener, Kruger etc., Mafeking "Special Siege Mail" Newspaper dated April 7, 1900 in superb condition, illustrated notepaper printed in violet by A. Menzies of Bloemfontein (8 different incl. Steyn's Pantechnicon), cover from Ladysmith just prior to the Siege with Natal 1 d. rose, cover with Transvaal 1 d. tied "Dundee / Natal" (Oct 30, 1899) during Boer occupation; and a similar usage with pair of ½ d. from Newcastle, Natal (Nov 1, 1899), "Colonial Scouts" cover from Greytown, censored covers and usages from POW Camps incl. 1 s., 2 s. and 2 x 5 s. notes to be spent at Green Point Camp to permit Boer prisoners to purchase supplies, Ladysmith Siege cards in red (4, one with Natal ½ d. green tied by "Ladysmith" two line datestamp in blue); April 1900 OHMS cover countersigned by Neville Chamberlain, scarce June 1900 "CANADIAN CONTINGENT" cover to Surrey; Rhodesian F.F. cards from Umtali and Mirandellas, POW Camp in St. Helena cover/cards (3), Soldier's letter from St. Helena franked 1 d. lake, Soldier's letter from Lt.-Gen. Lord Methuen, 1900 cover with GB ½ d. vermilion pair from Volkrust and similar from "Thaba Nchu", 1900 cover with 1 d. lilac to Shanghai, China and a 1901 cover to Canton; 1901 fascinating card written 'in the field' at Dundee commentating on the absurd "scorched earth policy", 1901 Soldier's letter to the Gold Coast, POW Camp in Bermuda card, cover from Nyasaland censored at King William's Town, Native Refugee Camp covers (2) etc. A marvellous collection with viewing essential.

1870-1990ca. Nachlassposten Militär und Feldpost, zusammengetragen, wie beim Sammler eingegangen. Enthalten sind frühe Formulare sowie typische militärische Ansichtskarten aus der Zeit vor dem Ersten Weltkrieg. Belege in verschiedenster Hinsicht mit der Armee resp. dem Militär verknüpft, z.B. einen Nachnahme der "MILITAIR-BIBLIOTHEK des Cantons ZÜRICH" 1877 n. Horgen, weiter eine Partie zumeist „Berner“ Soldatenmarken des Ersten Weltkriegs, häufig auf kleineren Umschlägen, sowohl gelaufen als auch 'blanco'. Ebenso Belege mit Soldatenmarken des Zweiten Weltkriegs auf Brief. Ergänzt um normale Feldpost bis nahezu in die Neuzeit, vereinzelt Rotes Kreuz, Interniertenpost usw. Untergebracht in zwei Lagerschachteln, insgesamt geschätzt 600–800 Belege.

1867/80: 3 d. rose pl. 5, a single example used on 1870 cover to "Monsieur Corot Saginate, Lt. Colonel 2nd Cuirassiers, Prisonnier de Guerre, Wiesbaden", tied by SOUTHAMPTON / 723 duplex of despatch (Dec 10) in black with circular 'PD' alongside, further endorsed "Gd. Hotel" at lower left. London cds in red on reverse (Dec 12) and arrival of the following day. Small closed tear to envelope but a scarce and attractive cover to a French Prisoner of War.
