Type 3, Number 5: 1940 (26 Apr.) envelope registered to Hong Kong bearing China 20c. franking tied by Shanghai English/Chinese c.d.s. with the registration label at foot and showing a fine strike of the triangular "passed censor/hong kong/5" handstamp struck in purple,, and with postman's bear handstamp "R1". Also 1940 (14 Sept) small registered parcel fragment bearing Hong Kong K.g.vi 5c. (2), 25c., 50c. and $2 (2) tied by the Registered c.d.s. and a large part strike of the triangular censor's handstamp. Only stwo covers recorded bearing this handstamp. Number 131: 1941 (26 Feb.) illustrated Centenary first day cover to Camberley cancelled by Victoria c.d.s. and a fine strike of the "131" triangular handstamp with a further strike on the reverse; 1941 (28 Aug.) large part cover front to Devon "via Trans Pacific Clipper" with $3.50 franking tied by Hong Kong (K) c.d.s. with a virtually complete strike of the "131" triangular handstamp; 1941 (9 Oct.) envelope to Uckfield "via Trans Pacific & trans Atlantic Clipper" bearing $5 tied by Kowloon c.d.s., the reverse with Victoria c.d.s. and a good strike of the "131" triangular handstamp. Type 3, Number 15: 1940 (25 July) bright blue air mail envelope to Hong Kong with Balikpapan, Netherlands Indies bearing meter mark in red, handstruck "gecensoreern/1" in purple and a superb strike of the triangular "passed censor/hong kong/15" struck on bluish green; fine and thought th be only two covers bearing this handstamp. Also Number 17, small fragment bearing Hong Kong K.G.Vi 15c. and 25c. tied by a near-complete strike of the triangular "passed censor/hong/kong/17" struck in purple and thought to be the only example of this. Type 3, Number 11: 1940 (22 Oct.) front of newspaper wrapper to Hong Kong bearing China 4c. tied by an indistinct c.d.s. and bears a fine strike of the triangular "passed censor/hong kong/11" struck in violet, thought to be one of only two recorded. Also Number 9, 1940 (18 Nov.) picture postcard to Hanoi bearing Hong Kong K.G.VI 15c. tied by Victoria c.d.s. and a fair strike of the "9" censor handstamp which is very scarce on postcards. (2 covers) (Estimate £120 - £180)

Hong Kong. World War 2 Censor Mail. Civilian Censor Mail. Type 5, Number 15: 1941 commercial envelope from Bangkok to Hong Kong bearing 15st. franking tied by a good strike of the triangular "passed censor/15" handstamp in purple, there are no other postal markings an this is thought to have been applied to a paquebot cover. Also two pieces bearing Hong Kong Centenary 4c. (2) or 5c. (3) similarly cancelled. A desirable group as it is thought that only two covers bearing this handstamp have been recorded.
