Tunisia 1888–1956: Comprehensive duplicated stock of used and unused issues, housed in two stock books and loose pages, covering the French Protectorate period from the first 1888 issues through to the mid-1950s. The first volume spans SG 1 (1888) to 1944/45, including early issues with SG 1–7 unused, SG 7 and 8 (5 f. mauve) used, 1888/98 values including SG 19–21 unused, and the 1899/1901 new colour issues to 35c brown unused. Later sets are well represented both mint and used, including 1906/18 issues, 1925 Child Welfare, and the 1938 Tunisian Postal Service set of 20 unused. Parcel Post sets are present in both mint and used condition. Postage dues from 1901 onwards are included, together with an extensive holding of “T” perfins from the first three series (1st series 15 examples, 2nd series 48 examples, 3rd series 22 examples). A small specialised group has been selected for cancellations. The second volume (1945/1956) contains strong ranges of both unused and used material from the later Protectorate period, providing continuity through to the pre-independence era. A substantial holding with useful depth in early issues, dues and perfins, offering both a strong foundation for further expansion and excellent potential for development into a specialised study. Provenance: Ex John Pitts.
