Reverse with Limerick arrival cds in black (July 18). If adhesives have been removed the entire was still contrary to regulations, and it appears that the Dublin cancellation was placed specifically in its position so that there was no charge raised in Limerick.

Readdressed upon arrival to Lord Lisle at Lynmouth with prepaid charge "1" again in red ink, and three line dated "DEVONPORT / PY. 1840c.: Locally mailed "triangular" folded entire letter to Armagh endorsed "Stamped", with manuscript "1" prepayment in red, struck with "Miltown RH / Belturbet" in blue at left. Letters folded in this fashion are most uncommon, and much speculation has taken place for the reason for this practice - however most examples recorded (from circa 1700 through to the early 1840's) are from Ireland, and it would seem logical to assume that the practice was connected with anti-British sentiments.

1907/16: Sinn Fein (-) propaganda label, an unused example in blue & black, perf. 11, marginal at right, slightly soiled large part og. Note: The Tricolour stamps were actually printed in gummed pairs to be stuck 'back to back' and then pinned to a lapel to advertise the wearer's support.
