If adhesives have been removed the entire was still contrary to regulations, and it appears that the Dublin cancellation was placed specifically in its position so that there was no charge raised in Limerick.

1840c.: Locally mailed "triangular" folded entire letter to Armagh endorsed "Stamped", with manuscript "1" prepayment in red, struck with "Miltown RH / Belturbet" in blue at left. Letters folded in this fashion are most uncommon, and much speculation has taken place for the reason for this practice - however most examples recorded (from circa 1700 through to the early 1840's) are from Ireland, and it would seem logical to assume that the practice was connected with anti-British sentiments.
