overprinted, ...more Stamps of Antigua Overprinted 1876/83: Antigua 1 d. red overprinted, perf. 14, a horizontal strip of four used on 1881 cover to London, cancelled by "A08" obliterator in black with "MONTSERRAT / PAID" cds (Feb 10) overstruck by "London / Paid" arrival in red (March 1). Some minor staining removed and the fourth stamp in the strip with small surface tear but most attractive and a very rare multiple of the #1 on letter. Provenance: Collection C.G. Lauder in Roseau, Dominica and paying the 2½ d. rate, lightly tied by "A08" obliterator and 'Montserrat' cds with further 'Montserrat' cds at left (Feb 26) in black, reverse with 'Dominica' cds of receipt (Feb 27). Mentioned by Robson Lowe in the Encyclopaedia on page 85. The envelope trimmed at left but an entirely unique and extraordinary usage. Certs. BPA (1955), Philatelic Foundation (1983), Friedl (1983)

perf. 14, a used vertical bisect (right half) on 1883 cover to St.
Kitts, tied by "A08" obliterator with 'Montserrat / Paid' cds at
left (Dec 15) in black and fine 'St. Kitts' arrival cds in black
also on obverse (Dec 16) of a fine and very rare cover. An
overpayment of the 2½ d. rate by ½ d. File fold away from the
adhesive, some overall soiling but a rare and most attractive usage
