1629 (Jan 2): Entire letter sent from a scribe in Malacca to his
counterpart in Aveiro, Portugal, an attractive address panel which
translates as "To the President of the Board of Guardians and
Brothers of the Holy House of Malacca", full red wax seal on
reverse. One of the earliest letters from Malacca, a significant
and important document from Malaysia. Note: The letter concerns
Mateus Ribeiro of Aveiro, who died whilst in the East. By his will
he leaves his estate to his parents, should he predecease them, or
to the Holy House of Mercy in Malacca for the relief of the poor,
should they predecease him. The scribe asks his counterpart to
inform him if Ribeiro's parents are dead, and if so, the date and
time of their death
