1897 Empress Dowager surch Small Figure 1c/1ca with inverted ovpt variety (Chan 38d). MNH with original gum. It is believed that 80 of this varieyt stamp exist (2 panes of 40) and only one fourth of them remain mint as most of thm were used by Hankow pakua, dollar or customs cancel.
1897年慈壽加蓋小字1分蓋1分銀新，帶加蓋倒蓋變異（陳目38d），原膠無貼。小字加蓋1分倒蓋票相信存世僅八十枚（兩盤格各四十枚），當中僅約四分一為新票，餘大多銷漢口八卦戳、大圓戳或海關戳。經典之“四複八倒”之一。

to ...more China 1899, 3 very attractive newspaper wrappers sent from Canton to a member of I.M. Customs in Wuchow, unopened, complete with journals intact. All franked 1 cent (for unsealed wrapper; 1/2 c for two ounces), using 1897 Empress Dowager issues ½ cent and 1 cent, tied by Canton large dollar dater 20 APR 99. On the back of all are indistinct Wuchow Post Office 22 APR. A very attractive and scarce set of unbroken wrappers with colourful woodcut illustrations. According to Tony Kwan census of Empress Dowager issues, only 3 domestic printed matters are recorded for the year 1899. Probably a similar item of the same correspondence is descibed by Kwan under ref. B-1899-020, but not illustrated

to ...more China 1899, 3 very attractive newspaper wrappers sent from Canton to a member of I.M. Customs in Wuchow, unopened, complete with journals intact. All franked 1 cent (for unsealed wrapper; 1/2 c for two ounces), using 1897 Empress Dowager issues ½ cent and 1 cent, tied by Canton large dollar dater 20 APR 99. On the back of all are indistinct Wuchow Post Office 22 APR. A very attractive and scarce set of unbroken wrappers with colourful woodcut illustrations. According to Tony Kwan census of Empress Dowager issues, only 3 domestic printed matters are recorded for the year 1899. Probably a similar item of the same correspondence is descibed by Kwan under ref. B-1899-020, but not illustrated
