United States. Guam. 1900 (Oct.) two envelopes ex the "Cooper"
correspondence addressed to San Francisco one bearing the 50c.
orange and the other the $1 black, each cancelled by "Agana Guam"
straightline in purple (Murphy 1.5), the reverse with transit
Manila (30.10) c.d.s. The $1 cover with some staining to the
reverse, still quite fresh and an extremely rare duo showing usage
during the proper period of use prior to 29th March 1901. P.S.E.
certificate (1992) for the $1 cover, Behr certificate (2016). Scott

otherwise very fine. A rare franking paying the double UPU rate

1899: Sherman, 8 cent violet brown, overprinted GUAM in black, good
colour and perforations, tied by straightline magenta “AGANA GUAM.”
(Type 1.5) and matching "OCT 4 1900" datestamp, to an envelope sent
to G. Fritz the German governor at Saipan, Mariana Islands,
manuscript "To be registered" in the hand of the sender, with
arrival cds in black “SAIPAN MARIANEN 10/10 00”. Fine. Scarce.
Note: US-occupied Guam, postage paid to the German Marianas Islands
(recently sold by Spain to Germany) demonstrating civilian use of
the Spainish-era UPU letter rate.

no importance, fine and very scarce usage of the 8 cents value

The envelope with a vertical archival crease, the adhesives with some light perforation toning, still fine. A most unusual mixed franking (Scott-Nr. 2, USA 272)
