1878-79 "New Rectangular" 1a red, Jammu printing on "medium" wove, complete sheet of 20 (4x5) with intact border (confirming "State I" of the plate), unused. One small tone spot, and unobtrusive horizontal crease affecting third row, still very fresh colour and most attractive. Rare as a sheet, and perhaps to be identified as "thick wove" (SG 122), despite clear ISES cert (2017) as SG 119. [There is a strong "embossed" effect on the reverse, which we would not regard as characteristic of the regular medium wove paper. Note that Sefi & Mortimer (pp.161-2) distinguished only (medium) wove and "very thick wove", and commented "it is occasionally difficult to draw a definite line of demarcation".]
