1955 EL AL FLIGHT SHOT DOWN OVER BULGARIA. A cover from France to
Israel with a 50Fr cancelled Lyon Grolee 25-7-1955 that was shot
down by the Bulgarian Air Force killing all on board after the
plane accidently strayed into Bulgarian airspace. Recovered mail
received a three line violet boxed cachet in Hebrew translated
‘This cover was recovered from an El Al airplane that was shot down
over Bulgaria 27.7.1955. An August 10 1955 arrival datestamp is on
the back
