Poste Egiziane / Cairo" cds (Dec 9) with information strike adjacent, with Italy 1863 40 c. rose-carmine tied by "234" numeral obliterator with "Alessandria D'Egitto / Pose Italiane" cds (Dec 10) below. Underpaid 20 c. and struck with framed "AFFRANCATURA / INSUFFICIENTE" in black but without charge amount due. Reverse with Egyptian Alexandria cds, Brindisi cds (Dec 15), Udine-Verona TPO and Verona cds (Dec 16). An unusual cover.

Transferred to French P.O. with 1871/75 Cérès 80 c. carmine tied by '5080' gros chiffres of Alexndria in black with "Alexandrie" cds (Dec 22) at lower left and red 'PD'. Reverse with Marseille cds and Lyon arrival (Dec 28). A fine combination usage.

Covers. 1889 (22 June) opened-out envelope to France bearing perf.11½ 3ca. tied by Peking seal in blue with France 25c. tied by "shang-hai/chine" c.d.s. (28.6) with a second strike alongside; the reverse bearing a fine strike of serif letter "i.g. of customs/peking" c.d.s. in blue, Customs Tientsin (22.6) and Shanghai (27.6), some French transit c.d.s. plus pair of Peace and Commerce 15c.
