cancelled in blue; together with a page with forgereis (4); all
generally fair to very fine, a scarce group Gi = £ 3'000

example ...more British Protectorate 1815-1864 1859: (½ d.) orange, a single example with large margins on three sides, roughly separated at top and just touched, used on reverse of 13 July 1859 cover from Cefalonia to Corfu tied by fair strike of framed "FRANCA" handstamp in blue with oval "PD" below denoting the '1' to pay and reverse with small Corfu cds in black (July 4g). An exceptionally rare issue on letter - just three covers are recorded with a single ½ d. adhesive - this being one of the rarest "Number One's" of the World on letter. Cert. example ...more British Protectorate 1815-1864 1859: (1 d.) deep blue, a used example in a deep shade with four large margins all round, used on 1862 cover from Kythera to Corfu cancelled by three pen strokes, with "Kythera" despatch cds April 11) in blue adjacent. Pressed file folds well away from the superb adhesive, a charming and extremely rare cover: the sole known stamped cover bearing the first issue used from this island. Cert. Simmermacher (2024)

datestamp (Sept 26) in black, reverse with very scarce Austrian
Consular P.O. "CORFÙ" cds of transit (Oct 19) in black
(Tchilinghirian fig. 463). The cover opens well for Exhibit
display.

(Tchilinghirian fig. 560) in black, charged for internal delivery
with 1872 Large Hermes 20 l. blue (Mi. 41), four margins but small
closed tear, tied by "106" numeral obliterator in black of Kerkyra.
Reverse with Syra cds (March 31j) and Kerkyra cds (April 2j) of
arrival. Signed Calves.

example in a deep shade with close even margins all round, just
touched within frameline at lower right, on 1862 entire letter from
Zakynthos to Stefano Ralli in Trieste cancelled by four manuscript
ink lines in black with "ZAKYNTHOS" despatch cds (Aug 19) in blue
at left. The 1 d. local charge paid for the letter to be delivered
to the Lloyd steamer. Reverse with Triest arrival (Aug 22) in red.
A very rare and most attractive entire. Cert. Simmermacher (2024).

Zante to Athens with circular "♚ / PAID AT ZANTE" in blue with
prepaid rate "5" (pence) in red manuscript and circular "POSTA
PAGATA" manuscript "2" (pence) prepaid, struck with oval "Overseas"
handstamp in black and reverse with both Patras (Jan 25) and Athens
arrival datestamps. Scarce Gi = £ 1'400.

blue, just touched on one side, on large part 1859 cover from Corfu
to Cefalonia endorsed "Via Samo", tied lightly by "FRANCA" oval
handstamp with 'Corfu' cds (Oct 22) in same blue ink alongside and
faint hooded Cefalonia arrival below. An exceptionally rare first
issue franking and most attractive. Sold together with ½ d. yellow
unused and 2 d. carmine unused. Certs. Fulpius (1943), Edgar

Hooded "CEFALONIA" datestamp of despatch in watery blue ink (July 16) and small circular "CORFU" arrival cds in blue on reverse (July 17); the stamps being placed as per regulations: 1 d. inter-island fee on the obverse and ½ d. Lloyd ship fee on reverse. The ½ d. adhesive crossed by file fold but a remarkable and attractive entire bearing this rare issue. Signed Spanos. Cert. Simmermacher (1984).
