15-18 juin 2016
The sheer variety of Philately in all its glory - the 205th to 209th Corinphila auctions from 15 to 18 June 2016 in Zurich
From 15 to 18 June 2016 the next series of auctions by the traditional Swiss house of Corinphila will take place in Zurich. As well as a high-class range of stamps, covers and postal history from all over the world, several exceptional specialised collections will come up for sale.
Wonderful highlights of Europe and the whole world (Auction 205)
The American continent is represented by Argentina, with the specialised collection of the 'Confederation 1858', 'Republic of 1862' and 'Rivadavia 1864-1872' issues of Dr Hugo Goeggel
The range of European classical philatelic material is also impressive, with a specialised collection of 'Church-state foreign covers ', including unusual destinations such as Australia, Bavaria, Finland, Belgium, Ireland, Portugal, Palma de Mallorca and Tunisia. France is also represented by a specialised collection of foreign covers of the classical issues, including a colourful 1849 franking with the 'Ceres' 20 c. and 1 fr. to Austria - probably a unique combination. Eduardo Cohen’s legendary specialised collection of Romania, the lithographed issues of 1865-1872, is another sensation. The collection was lost for over half a century. The Poland material includes, among other, overprint rarities of the Kraków issue of 1919, and the POCZTA POLSKA issue on 'Kronen' values of Austria.
Egypt includes, among other things, the last part of the Peter A.S. Smith collection with emphasis on postage due stamps, as well as a fantastic four-colour franking of the Sphinx issue of 1872 from the overseas post office at Massawa. Another highlight is the specialised 'ASAFIA' collection (India - Feudatory State of Hyderabad). A special section of Zeppelin and air mail, including Zeppelin rarities of the Italy flight of 1933 as well as stamp issues and covers of transatlantic flights to South America, Brazil and Argentina in 1933/34 completes the material on offer.
The Nepal, Bulgaria & France special catalogues (Auctions 206-208)
The special catalogues of Auctions 206 to 208 also offer splendid variety, beginning with the international Large Gold winning specialised collection of 'NEPAL' of Dr Wolfgang C. Hellrigl, embracing the Indian post in Nepal but also the stamp issues for Nepalese domestic mail. The specialised collection 'Bulgaria 1878-1893' of Earl Galitz, which was also awarded international Large Gold, includes rare covers of the early issues as well as unused multiples, proofs. The 'BESANÇON' (France) collection has particular emphasis on unused multiples of classic issues, including the 'Ceres' 1 franc vermilion of 1849 in an unused block of four.
Confederation philately (Auction 209 - Switzerland and Liechtenstein)
To round off the auction series there is another outstanding range of Swiss philatelic material, with a further part of the international Grand Prix award winning 'SEEBUB' collection, the first part of the specialised 'RÜSCHLIKON' collection with many rare postmarks and covers, as well as a varied general section of Switzerland from classical to modern.
