Canada: Newfoundland: 1857-64 1d brown-purple with re-entry through
“1” and “NEWFOUND” at top, small to large margins, unused, Vincent
Graves Greene Foundation certificate (2016). This re-entry is shown
on the Ralph Trimble website, its position is unknown and until
this example was only known on 1862-64 1d., an example of which
also accompanies. S.G. 1, 16 vars. (2)

original gum (rare thus), large margins on each side, deep rich
color and razor-sharp impression on fresh paper EXTREMELY FINE. A
STUNNING EXAMPLE OF THE 1857 61/2-PENCE SCARLET VERMILION WITH
LARGE PART OF ORIGINAL GUM. AN EXCEPTIONAL CONDITION RARITY --
PARTICULARLY WITH LARGE MARGINS. The 6½p value typically comes with
tight and/or touching margins. Those that do have margins are often
found with faults to some degree. Copies with the trifecta of
original gum, large margins and completely sound condition, are
extremely rare. According to Power Search, we have only offered one
other sound original-gum example in the past 25 years (ex “Alan”—it
has tight margins). Ex Eubanks. With 1984 Greene Foundation
