Fargo frank on this entire is in accordance with a little known
agreement between Wells Fargo and other banking institutions
allowing them to transmit, via Wells Fargo's express lines,
envelopes displaying the bank's handstamp in lieu of the Wells
Fargo frank. B.H. Hastings briefly had a field office in Virginia
City, therefore complying with this agreement

Slightly reduced at left and with light toning, still quite fresh
and fine. A very scarce cover, this company operated from Portland
to Lincoln (1865 to 1867), but its markings are elusive,
