vertical strip of three examples showing overprint positions 6
(oblique dot after 'P') + 11 (broken 'P') + 16 which were printed
inverted on the sheet positions 10+15+20, a superb multiple in
unmounted og condition, of extreme rarity as only 75 overprinted
inverted were printed, presumably unique as a multiple, every stamp
signed Bulat, ex collection Georg von Steiden

Kolomea Issue, 1918: "Ukr. N. R. 5" sot. Overprint Plate, complete
proof setting of 25, minor offset on front and reverse, folded in
the middle, nevertheless a very fine and rare proof sheet, signed
Bulat, ex collection Georg von Steiden. Note: The proof copy of the
5 sotyk value had the overprint type closer together in comparison
to the actual overprint, narrower in width and shorter in height.
This was later on corrected resulting in an overprint approximately
in the middle of each stamp. The column width in the proof copy is
119.5 mm, on the stamp 121.5 mm. Reference: Illustrated in Bulat -

unmounted og. Some split perfs between upper and lower part, of no
importance for such an important piece of utmost rarity, presumably
the largest multiple of this rare stamp with a total print run of
only 452 examples of which multiples are 'not existing'. Every

R. 10" sot. on 6 h. in a horizontal pair from pos. 6+7 of 25, each stamp tied by bilingual "KOLOMYIA 1 / KOLOMEA 1" datestamp, on cover directed to Ivan Cherniavsky at the district court in Kolomiya, a most exceptional usage of this adhesive with a minute print run of 452 examples only, on the first day of usage a bijou for a high-end collection of Western Ukraine, signed Bulat. Note: After the Polish seizure of Lviv in November 1918, the Authorities of the Western Ukrainian National Republic were evacuated further east, first to Ternopil, then to Stanyslaviv. The main post office in the Pokutia region in Kolomyia lost contact with central authorities and run out of stamps. On a conference on December 5, 1918 the District Commandant, Capt. Prymak, the Postmaster Ivasiuk , and Dr. Ivan Cherniavsky, the Chairman of the District Court in Kolomyia and a well-known philatelist decided to overprint local stocks of Austrian stamps. These Kolomea overprints were done on December 10 by the printing shop of Wilhelm Brauner and on December 12, they came into postal use. What a swift organisation. 1916 Arms 40 h. brown-olive and 1917 Karl 20 h. blue-green (Mi
194+222), tied by "PECZENIZYN 20 II. 19 - 6" datestamp, on
registered cover from Peczeniżyn to Kolomyia, fine condition and
scarce, from the collection Georg von Steiden. Note: Already on
January 1, 1919 the registered letter fee had been increased to 50
sotyks, an increase which the Kolomyia Post Office learned about
not earlier then January 14, 1919. In peripeheral offices like that
in Peczeniżyn the rate change was not followed even in February and
the the next lot shows even later correct usages of the 30 sotyks
registration stamp

stamp もっと見る Kolomea Issue, 1919 (May 6): 30 sot. black on rose registration stamp from pos. 1 on obverse used in combination with four examples of unoverprinted Austria 1917 Karl 15 h. brown-red (Mi 221) on reverse, all tied by "GVOZDETS 6 V. 19" datestamp, on large registered cover from a lawyer in Gwoździec / Hwisdez to the district court in Kolomyia, folded in the middle, signed Bulat. A very late use of the 30 sotyks registration stamp in May from the collection Georg von Steiden, as the Western Ukrainian Republic was already in July 1919 occupied by Polish troops
