deleted and re-rated showing a very fine strikes of the horseshoe
COUNTERFEIT/ 2 and RECHARGED alongside. Extremely rare handstamps,
the latter unrecorded in this format, slightly rubbed horizontal
filing crease, small corner fault clear of handstamps. An
exceedingly rare and important item

IRELAND: 1762 (Aug 16): Entire from Charleston, South Carolina to
London, rated '5' (d.) which has been deleted and replaced with
'11' (d.), manuscript "ship" top right and straight line 'CLONMELL'
below, reverse with straight-line 'COUNTRY' and arrival Bishop
mark. Small part of backflap missing, nevertheless a remarkable
item, believed to be the only recorded ship letter from Clonel
which was further upstream from Dungarvon. Ex T. Roberts (1989).

Whaley at the Post Office in Dublin, marked "N2" , rated "1/2" with
straight line "NOT CALLED FOR" handstamp in red alongside
collection and transit markings and receiving 24.08 d.s. on
reverse. Entire with discreet repair otherwise fine and a scarce
instructional marking.
