on ...más Japanese Occupation 1942: General Issues overprinted Type I in red on Straits Settlements 1 c. black, 2 c. orange, 3 c. green, 8 c. grey and rare 12 c. ultramarine (Gi = £ 180+), all used on registered cover, slight horizontal fold away from the adheisves, within Singapore and tied by circular "First Anniversary of Fall of Singapore / 15.2.2603" datestamps in violet. Sold together with 1943 incoming Prisoner of War mail stampless cover from England to Lieut. Houghton Titmarsh of 2nd Battalion, Cambridgeshire Regt., held as a POW in Changi, with Allied Censor at left and mailed via Japan, with notation "Received Changi Jail precincts 28/5/44" on obverse. A scarce pair.
