1923 selection of eight covers or cards on exhibit pages, showing
examples of mail from the punitive expedition to Corfu, with
"R.Nave San Marco" and "R. Nave Conte di Cavour" ship mail sent
through the Greek post office, cards with "Corfu Poste Italiane"
pmks, complete set of eight overprinted stamps on cover to Rome,
also second issue surcharges, used on cards to Rhodes, fine and
scarce group (In August 1923 Italians forming part of an
international boundary delegation were murdered on Greek soil,
leading Benito Mussolini to order a naval bombardment of Corfu.
After the Greeks appealed to the League of Nations, the Italians
were ordered to evacuate but Greece was forced to pay Italy an
indemnity)
