censor cachet and backstamped "Military Post Office Alexandria" (27
May,19) on arrival, roughly opened at top, fine. The British
Military Post Office SZ62 was set up in Damascus where it operated
until 24 June, 1919, closing when Syria was turned over to the
French authority

Lieut. Roper in Alexandria, franked with pair of 1pi E.E.F. Mandate
stamps, tied by bilingual ALEP departure pmk, censored, showing
several markings on back, including Arab Governor Aleppo hs,
delivered "Alexandria" and "Field Post Office SZ11, 9 Apr"
(Mustapha Barracks, Alexandria) arrival, filing fold away from the
stamps, very scarce registered cover with EEF franking from Aleppo
