Inclinados 1844/46: 10 r. black, a magnificent unused block of
twenty-four (4 x 6) with huge margins all round and showing
portions of twenty-two surrounding stamps, in a deep intense shade
on bluish grey paper; one stamp with closed tear, minor thins and
some ironed creasing unapparent on face, remarkably fresh and fine,
unused without gum. Illustrated in "Inclinados" by Bernd Juchert on
page 22. A delightful multiple. Provenance: Collection T. Kuyas,

impression, a used block of nine, margins large to just shaved, one
stamp with worm hole, beautifully cancelled by four complete
strikes of framed "OEIRAS" handstamps in black (Ayres fig. 1373).

Inclinados 1844/46: 10 r. black on greyish, a used block of twelve
used a seal on reverse of cover from Rio Grande to Rio de Janeiro
at single Maritime rate, margins touched to mostly large in places
with small portions of three adjoining stamps; all cancelled by
three strikes of circular "CORREIO GERAL DA CORTE" datestamps in
red upon arrival. Vertical file fold affects the multiple, slight
acid ink in the address panel, otherwise very fine. Illustrated in
"Inclinados" on page 40 and "Inclinados on Covers" by Bernd Juchert
on page 51; unrecorded by Walter Taveira. Displays well, a most
attractive and very rare entire.

early impression, an unused block of forty-eight (8 x 6), positions
56-65 / 101-108; showing portions of six adjoining stamps at left
and numerous re-entries, marginal fault and one stamp with closed
tear, slightest thinnings and typical natural creasing, superb
unused. Illustrated in "Inclinados" by Juchert on page 52 and in
"Inclinados" by Walter Taveira on page 164. The second largest
unused multiple and a great rarity of classic Brazilian philately.

paper, Type II, a used block of twenty (2 x 10), with full vertical
sheet marginal rule at left, and mostly large margins all round,
cancelled by four complete strikes of the "CORREIO GERAL DA CORTE"
datestamp (11 June 1847) in black. Small worm hole at base and a
horizontal crease between sixth and seventh rows. Illustrated in
"Inclinados" by Bernd Juchert on page 64. The second largest used
multiple, of magnificent appearance and an exhibition showpiece of

used block of four with just touched to fine margins, on 19
February 1847 entire letter written in New York and addressed to
John C. Pedrick, the US Consul in Rio Grande Do Sul via two
Forwarding Agents: one in Ricmond, Virginia who then forwarded the
letter under cover to the care of Agents in Rio de Janeiro with
their endorsement "Rio de Janeiro, April 231847, forwarded by
Coleman, Hutton & Co." on reverse and who franked the cover with
the 30 reis block for the Maritime single rate; tied by "CORREIO
GERAL DA CORTE" cds in black. Illustrated in "Inclinados" by Bernd
Juchert on page 64 and in "Inclinados" by Walter Taveira on page
341. A magnificent and most unusual entire. Provenance: Corinphila

Inclinados 1844/46: 30 r. black on "Bull's Eye" paper, Type II, and
90 r. black, Type I, (RHM 5B+7B) used on reverse of 16 Dec 1844
entire letter from Caxias to Braga, Portugal tied by circular
"CORREIO DE CAXIAS" circular handstamps in red with manuscript date
in red ink; inadvertently prepaying the maritime rate of 120 reis
due from the Brazilian post for the journey by ship on the River
Itapecuru to Sao Luis and thence to Maranhao. Obverse with MARANHAO
cds (March 20) in violet-red ink and framed "Barra de Porto" entry
marking in blue (May 2, 1845) with '160' reis charge in blue and
manuscript "190" reis to pay on receipt. Illustrated in
"Inclinados" by Bernd Juchert on page 194 and in Walter Taveira's
handbook on page 383. A most unusual and rare franking that
displays well with no more than five covers bearing the Inclinados
used to a foreign destination recorded, this item being unique with
the adhesives on the "Bull's Eye" paper. Provenance: Collection

to Rio de Janeiro, tied by superb strike of circular "CORREIO DA
VILLA DE AREIAS" handstamp in red (Ayres fig. 1597) with manuscript
date (11 November). The stamp lifted for checking, pressed and
replaced. Illustrated in "Inclinados" by Bernd Juchert on page 18
and in "Inclinados" by Walter Taveira on page 362. Just four
Inclinado covers are recorded from Areias, one of which is damaged.

remarkable strip of three with good to large margins all round in a
deep resonant shade, used on 21 June 1845 Maritime double rate
entire letter from Porto Alegre to Rio de Janeiro, tied by circular
"PORTO ALEGRE SUL" handstamps in black (Ayres fig. 1586). File fold
through central stamp of the strip, obverse with "PORTO ALE"
circular datestamp (June 24) in black. Illustrated in "Inclinados"
by Bernd Juchert on page 145 and in "Inclinados" by Walter Taveira
on page 351. A wonderfully attractive usage - the largest multiple
of the 60 reis Type II on thick paper known. A rarity. Provenance:

used vertical strip of three and a remarkable block of thirty (6 x
5) with full sheet margin at left, used on reverse of Judicial
document "Autos de Foro", the multiples with generally good to
large margins but with imperfections as to be expected in the
larger multiple not affecting the dramatic appearance, all
cancelled by fifteen strikes of the framed "CABO / FRIO" handstamp
(Ayres fig. 1248) in brown. Illustrated in "Inclinados Multiples"
by Bernd Juchert on page 90. An exceptional multiple, the largest
recorded, and a wonderful showpiece - this being the highest known
Inclinados franking recorded.

the ...mehr Inclinados 1844/46: 60 r. black on thin greyish paper, plate II, the astonishing and famous used block of forty-two, corner marginal from the lower right corner of the sheet, showing marginal rule at base and vertically at right, large margins all round, slightest stain across the third horizontal row otherwise almost none of the usual imperfections typical to the issue, lightly cancelled by "CIDADE / DE / NICTHEROY" handstamps in red. Illustrated in "Inclinados" by Bernd Juchert on page 92 and in Walter Taveira's "Inclinados" where discussed and illustrated on pages 191-193. and ...mehr Inclinados 1844/46: 90 r. grey-black in a horizontal pair, Type I and single 60 r. grey-black, Type II, used on reverse of 5 January 1846 entire letter at Maritime triple rate from Rio de Janeiro to Rio Grande do Sul, Pedrick correspondence, margins touched to large with portions of adjoining stamps, all tied by "CORREIO GERAL DA CORTE" datestamps in black. Stamps restored due to opening tears. Illustrated in "Inclinados" by Bernd Juchert on page 104. Despite imperfections, a remarkable entire letter with just two covers known bearing this franking. a ...mehr Inclinados 1844/46: 180 r. black on greyish, the horizontal pair in a deep shade, three large margins and imperceptibly shaved at top of first stamp, used on the famous 29 April 1846 entire letter from Rio de Janeiro to Rio Grande Do Sul endorsed "Vapor" and carried at 5 times the Maritime rate, Pedrick correspondence, tied by "CORREIO GERAL DA CORTE" circular datestamps (April 29) in black. The entire with some restoration from moth attack to paper not affecting the adhesives in any way. Illustrated in "Inclinados Multiples" by Bernd Juchert on page 114 and also in "Inclinados on Covers" by Juchert on page 104; also illustrated and discussed in "Inclinados" by Walter Taveira on page 407-408.
