1893 German Philatelic Newspaper sent registered to Drome, France,
endorsed “imprimes” franked 1886 1c. ‘Sun’ and 2c. ‘Arms’ (9, pair
and strips of three and four) tied Lima date stamps, registration
handstamp top right and arrival at left. The newspaper maybe being
used as wrapping paper with noted two lengths of string under the
adhered label, rare registered printed matter

1858 ...mehr PERU: 1858 (Aug 21): Outer letter sheet to Lima franked with two 1858 UN DINERO blue in two distinct shades, one showing part of lower neighbouring stamp, the other three margins close to large, the left-hand stamp with good to just touched bottom right, tied by single "ARICA VAPOR" cds. Fine and clean condition, cert. PF (1995). Provenance: David Feldman sale September 2013, lot 72266.

Chile bearing large red "CERTIFCACION / A LIMA / FRANCA" handstamp,
manuscript double crosses in each corner plus halfway between each
corner. Manuscript accounting on reverse with 1 r. Peru Inland
rate, 1½r.

with ...mehr PERU: 1866 (Aug 20): Stampless entire from Mejillones to Pisaqua with three-lines "franca" notice for no stamps available, partly overstruck by very fine dotted MEJILL handstamp in blue. Very fine condition. Note: Mejillones remained a Peruvian port until lost in the Battle of Angamos to Chile in 1879. The name of the town literally means Mussels, the locals main food source.
