1918: Air Post Issue 1918: 16 c. & 24 c. Curtiss Jenny, a study of
usages of each Air Post issue, the postage paid for which included
the special delivery fee, original gum singles of each offered with
five covers, two with 16 c. frankings, one on 1918 Cleveland to
Chicago experimental flight by army aviators, the second on 1920
Los Angeles to an Francisco Roessler flight cover, and three with
24 c. frankings, one being the desirable 1918 Washington -
Pennsylvania - New York first airmail route, carried during the
first week of service, two carried on later 1918 Boston to New York
and 1920 Chicago to San Francisco flights, a fine group

c. red & blue, stamp and postal history group, mounted on four
exhibit pages, with 1934 issue highlights including imperforate
Farley printing of lower plate block of six, imperforate single on
U.S.S. Whitney naval cover, 1936 issue with mispeforated block of
four, covers of foreign origin including 1937 Hong Kong to Texas
and 1940 Havana to Knoxville, overall fresh and fine-very fine

Ultramarine Issue 1902: 10 c. ultramarine, 1909 re-issue in blue, stamp and postal history group, with plate number single and multiples comprising plate 5240 single, plate 5240-09 upper margin inscription block of six, and plate 5243-09 top and bottom inscription strips of three, all but the single showing the full "Bureau Engraving & Printing" inscription and plate number, all with large part original gum, and four covers, two 1910 usages showing Boston "clock-type" receivers, showing both the earliest and latest recorded usages in purple ink, and two illustrating the Canada / United States Reciprocal Arrangement, one franked with 10 c. Special Delivery and sent from Winnipeg to Chicago, the second from New York to Toronto, franked with 10c green Canadian Special Delivery issue, a scarce group, overall fresh and fine. Cert. 1914, 10 c. Ultramarine Issue 1914: 10 c. ultramarine, specialised
group of stamps and covers, mounted on exhibit pages, with three
singles in pale ultramarine, one dramatically under-inked, one
example each of plate number singles 5854 and 6049, respectively
the first and last plates used, and scarce upper plate number 5863
block of six in a fresh deep shade, covers (4) comprising 1916
example with sender's notation "deliver at 8:30am", an evident
misunderstanding of the special delivery service, resulting a
failed attempted delivery at 7:30am; 1915 registered special
delivery from Greenwich to New York; unusual 1916 British soldier's
cover from Army Post Office S, affixed on arrival with 10 c.
Special Delivery and forwarded and 1916 usage from Montreal to New
York cancelled on route by "Rouse's Point, N.Y. & Montreal R.P.O.",
the stamps mostly large part original gum, the block hinged in
selvedge only, covers with light wear consistent with commercial
use, a lovely study of this issue, fine-very fine. Cert. PSE (1995)

origins including Canal Zone and Colombia, unusual usage of 13 c.
Special Delivery to accelerate transit between Curacao and Denmark,
various examples on parcel piece (several ex Markovits), including
Prexie frankings, dual 13 c. franking on strking redirected cover
displaying three attempts at delivery, 17 c. foreign destinations
including France and Chile, etc, some small flaws, a diverse and
fine-very fine collection with many difficult items
