An exciting lot with a overfilled stockbook mainly first issue ...mehr
An exciting lot with a overfilled stockbook mainly first issue to
1940s mostly used but later issue incl. some unused mixed MNH/MH.
Also stock cards with better early stamps as well as MNH sets, e.g.
corner copies of Austrian poets 1931 and Austrian painters 1932.
Further some reprints of stationery envelopes and bulk material in
glassine envelopes and on stock cards with e.g. Lombardy Venetia
and Bosnia Herzegovina. Overview pictures can be seen on our

1838: James Chalmers Essays, 1890 reprints, "General Postage / NOT
/ ...mehr 1838: James Chalmers Essays, 1890 reprints, "General Postage / NOT / EXCEEDING / ONE / OUNCE / Twopence" and two "General Postage / NOT / EXCEEDING / ONE / OUNCE / One Penny." unmounted horizontal strip of three, with mounted single One Penny example cancelled in black "DUNDEE / February, 1838", printed in pink on gummed white wove paper, scarce and fine. Chalmers, a Dundee bookseller, wrote in a February 10, 1838 letter to the Post Office "that sheets of stamped slips be prepared...then rubbed over the back with a strong solution of gum..." and that "to prevent being used twice, postmasters should put the town stamp across the slips." These reprint essays were discussed in an exchange of letters to the editor of the London Philatelist (October 1917) as having been reproduced from the original strip of essays contained in one of the volumes of Sir Henry Cole left to the Victoria and Albert Museum, and distributed with a special Christmas Supplement of the Stamp Collector`s Monthly

stamps in three albums and folder. Missing are only Gustav V., 55
and 80 Ö stamps fron 1918. In starting period collected as
cancelled (with a few unused stamps), after 1952 until end
collected as MNH. Three unused stamps of 1855 issue are reprints.
Some cancellations are probably not contemporary. Quality is good
for a collection - generally good, some stamps with imperfections.
e.g. Kr. 5.00 from the UPU II set has a slight thin place. High
purchase value, inspection recommended
