fine. A very scarce transatlantic mail with Russian origin, from

via ...mehr Russian P.O. in Alexandretta 1872 (May): Lettersheet from Zürich via Alexandria and Alexandretta to Aleppo, internally dated "Zürich le 24 Avril 1872", endorsed "Voie de Trieste & Alexandrette", forwarded by 'Gsell & Co / à ALEXANDRIE (EGYPTE)", bearing on front Russian Levant 1876 10 kop. carmine & green surcharged '8' kop. in blue, tied by indistinct rhomboid numeral, on reverse part strike of a large ornamental rectangular “ALEKSANDRETSKOJE / AGENSTVO” datestamp in blue (Tchilinghirian fig 201) all in blue, the cover internally dated 11 May upon arrival. On reverse Turkey Duloz dues bisected 20 pa. and 2 pi. paying the journey to Aleppo, tied by triple framed Arabic HALEP handstamp in black. A cover in suboptimal condition, nevertheless an extremely rare incoming item from Switzerland with forwarder to Alexandria, from there by ROPiT to Alexandretta and the rest of its journey with the Turkish post, a desirable item for an advanced postal historian.
