registered cover from Mecca to Liverpool, tied by superb bilingual
"MEKKE" cds (April 24) in blue (Uexkull fig. 45) with obverse
showing superb strike of oval framed "REGISTERED / MECCA" handstamp
(Uexkull fig. surprisingly omitted) with reg. number inserted in
manuscript. Suez transit (May 2), Port Said cds (May 3) and thence
via London to Liverpool (May 11). Removable hinges on reverse as
the stamp severed on opening of the envelope, but a rare and most
attractive cover.

commercial covers bearing pairs of ½ pi. scarlet (2) or single 1
pi. blue (7), Hejaz covers at 2 pi. rate to Cairo (2), and a fine
and colourful range of Nejd / Hejaz & Nejd frankings with 27 covers
mainly from Djeddah and Mecca (one registered cover with rare MEKKE
cds's struck in red). Generally fine, a rare and appealing group.
