French Guyana 1878 (Jan 27): Envelope to Paris bearing mixed issue
General Colonies 1872/76 5 c. Cérès pair and 1877/78 40 c. Sage,
all with mostly large margins, tied by "GUYANE CAYENNE" to right
octagonal "CORR. D'ARMÉES / CAYENNE" datestamp of same date, blue
French entry cds. An extremely fine Exhibition item

handstamp from the Captain of the Grand Duc de Riviere to a soldier
on leave at Moule, "POINT A PITRE" transit at top, short military
endorsement bottom left and fuller endorsement on reverse together
with military handstamp. One of the finest and earliest recorded
military letters from this Colony, on the album page of Edward
