1d. black, plate 9, an unused block of six, lettered IA-JC, mostly
large margins on three sides, showing portion of two adjoining
stamps at foot, just touching on JA to close at left, good
impression and deep colour, treated to reduce toning and creased
between impressions, a remarkable and important unused multiple of
great rarity, believed to be the largest recorded unused block of
this plate in either institutional or private hands. Illustrated in
"The British Philatelist" in July 1938. Cert. Karl Louis (2024) Gi.

watermark at the left „MARK“ and „Postage“, some slightly uneven

rouletted, an unused complete sheet of four, handstamped "BRITISH
VICE-CONSULATE / ANTANANARIVO" in violet, each stamp more or less
stained where the gum would have been placed, three slight edge
indentations, otherwise fine. From the "San Francisco Find" and of
great rarity as a complete sheet Gi = £ 2'800+.
