CAMEROON FRENCH AND BRITISH ADMINISTRATIONS 1915–1963: Exceptional
collection presented on eighty-five exhibition pages, with key
issues and postal history, comprising important mint and used stamp
sets together with 73 covers and cards, documenting the transition
from German Kamerun to French and British administrations. French
Occupation includes 1916 first issue with key values (unused),
complete 1916–17 sets on unsurfaced and chalk-surfaced papers (mint
and used, incl. varieties), and 1918–22 Occupation covers
(registered and censored). French Mandate period represented by
registered, censored and airmail usages, including Greek customs
inspection label, extensive WW2 censorship (military censor,
adherence to General de Gaulle issue, mixed frankings), railway
line cancellations (Northern, Central and Branch lines), maritime
mail (West Africa lines), and post office usages. British
Occupation well represented with complete 1915 set (SG B1/B13)
unused with varieties, and covers including scarce mixed frankings
(triple) and an attractive hand-made Royal Engineers Christmas card
from the West African Expeditionary Force. Later material includes
British Trust Territory and early Federal Republic usages. A
substantial and well-developed holding of both stamp issues and
postal history, rich in occupation material, censorship, railway
and maritime usages. An excellent basis for further expansion or
exhibition development. Provenance: Ex John Pitts.
