1947, ...mehr 1947: Large registered parcel tag from Bwagaoia, dated 30 July 1947, addressed to the Bank of New South Wales, Sydney, from Cuthbert’s Misima Goldmine Ltd., endorsed “This package contains one bar bullion.” Franked with 1 pounds blue KGVI, Kangaroo 2 shilling vertical pair (faults), 1 shilling green, 3 pence brown and ½ penny orange, tied by BWAGAOIA / PAPUA cds. in purple, totalling £ 1.05.03½ d., paying the gold bar parcel rate. Manuscript “Address altered by Authority CMG Ltd” with postal officer’s signature, officially redirected in transit. Two different registration labels (Bwagaoia 825 & 2090). An extraordinary survivor - gold bullion postal tag, redirected under official authority, combining Australian high-value frankings. A rarity of post-war Papua New Guinea postal history and of great thematic interest for gold mining and bullion transport.
