"Soft Paper" Special Printing (Scott 194), without gum as issued, gorgeous color on fresh paper with long full perfs all around, exceptionally well-centered for the issue; small thin spot, Very Fine, #194 is valued by Scott in the grade of Fine, a mere 17 examples are known to exist, one of which is in the Miller collection and not available, no examples are perfectly centered, and this stamp is one of the better centered examples extant. It is better centered than the ex-Drucker example, which was described as the finest example extant, ex Heiman, Engel and Newport (purchased at Engel), with 1957 and 2008 P.F. certificates.

Only 28 are in collections with one each in the Miller and Luff collections (the online census -- #6 & #28 are the same stamp, and this stamp is inexplicably no longer shown in the census), ex Newport (who purchased the stamp in a Stampazine auction, probably in the late 1960's or early 1970's), with 1962 and 2008 P.F. certificates, the latter noting tiny thin spots.

of the 90¢ "Soft Paper" Special Printings are poorly centered and
faulty. This stamp is a rare stamp on its own, and exponentially
rare in this superior condition. 43 examples are known to exist
with one each in the Miller and Luff collections, meaning 41
examples available for collectors, ex Sheriff, Vineyard (10/04
sold $25,000) & Laila (4/08 sold $20,000), with 1971 and 2001 P.F.
