  • SG 102
Description

1856-59 QV 'REGISTERED' Imperforate (6d) vermilion & Prussian blue SG 102 corner block of 4 [39-40/49-50] from the lower-right of the sheet, margins good to huge, ironed-out creasing affects the last unit, large-part gum, Cat £8000+. A beautiful block of great importance & impeccable pedigree. Ex Snowden, Tomasini, John Boker, 'Manwood', and 'Carrington' (Mark Dankin): sold for $12,650 and at our auction of 7.5.2013 for $18,640. BPA Certificate (2012) states "...with large part original gum...is genuine". This is by far the finer of only two unused blocks in private hands. The other, which formerly adjoined this item, is Guy Hutson's badly creased block of 6, that sold for £10,200 (2013)
