1869: Prince Carol I (beardless) 10 b. blue, close to touching frame on lower right side otherwise four margins, 25 b. orange & blue, tight at top right side otherwise good to very large margins all round and part of side marginal right, both fresh vibrant colour, used on a mourning letter from Bucharest to Geneva, Switzerland, dated 11 October 1870, neatly tied by a single strike of the BUCAREST cds. (11 OCT 70) in black, with framed P.D. alongside. On reverse, Vienna transit WIEN 15/10 and Geneva arrival GENEVE 17/10 datestamps in black. Top letter fold just affecting marginal edge of 25 b. which doesn't detract from the visual appearance. Impressive combination, rare with such good margins, highly attractive and scarce franking on mourning letter.
