Many ...di più Bavaria, "Das Reinheitsgebot" Virtually Complete Collection with Many Extras, 1849-1920, Incredible collection in two hingeless Lighthouse albums, the first housing what could be called a complete collection, but that would be a vast understatement considering the wide range of color, watermark and plate varieties on offer. Highlights include used #1-3, 7-8, 9-14, 14a (signed Pfenniger), 15-22, 15a (signed Brettl), 28a, 30a-31a, mint 27a, and many, many more including imperfs, tête-bêche & gutter pairs, margin blocks of König Ludwig, five reprints of the Staatswappen series issued for the 1873 World's Fair in Vienna, a few covers, one a rare usage of 70a on an insured letter to Nuremberg with BPP certificate, and a number of very scarce Zusammendrucke, such as the following as listed in Michel: mint W1.51, WZ4.5, HB1.5, used W1.23 (on postal card), W3.1 (on picture postcard), W3.7. This solid collection is followed up in volume 2 with an engaging tour of back-of-the-book that goes way beyond the Scott catalogue; in addition to a complete and mostly parallel mint & used collection of officials with many paper & color varieties including the "E" perfins, you will find over 50 pieces of mostly unused postal stationery in the form of envelopes, postal cards, cardletters, postal money orders, and wrappers, 21 different Retourmarken, 8 different mint telegraph stamps including MiNr. 24, 4 pages of fascinating essays, 3 pages of revenues including railway tax stamps in blocks, Cinderella labels from WWI, and 5 telephon-billets including MiNr. TB18 in a used block of six. Also included in this lot are both volumes of the Bayern-Spezialkatalog by Peter Sem, as well as his handbook of cancellations entitled Bayern Ortsstempel 1849-1875, and the handy specialized catalogue from Michel in its last edition from 1999, generally Fine to Very Fine, fully viewable online via scans & video.
