Postal History. 1740 ship letter wrapper from England to John Reynell in Philadelphia, carried privately "p Capr Farmer", forward from New York with manuscript rate notation in the top right corner, "NY Sh: 3dwt: 16grs"; the receipt docketing on the flap reads, "From Daniel Flexney Rec'd 30th April 1740 Via N. York". Very fresh and an exceptionally early letter to America (Estimate £150 - £200)

from ...di più 1872 SHIP LETTER MAIL WRAPPER for a single letter sent O.H.M.S. from London to Oporto [Portugal] via Gravesend addressed to Captain Contente/Ship Mail per the Maria Pia showing SHIP-LETTER/JU 5/72/LONDON in Red; on the reverse is a GRAVESEND cds for JU 6/72. VERY RARE. These Wrappers were used forall outgoing Ship Letters sent by the Post Office to prevent the contents from being seen by the ship's captain to whom Ship Letters were entrusted. This Wrapper may be the only surviving example?

lots of O'Clock types, 'To Pay', Inspectors Star h/s. Also
1830s-40s Granton Rd carriage ticket 125x90mm Superb UN - on Ebay
for $20+, 'Coffee House' POs 1808, 1817 & 1837. 'Penny Post Gerrard
St' (£40) & much more. Typical very mixed condition but extremely
