Romanian Post, Treaty with Austria; 1869 (Aug 17): Double rate
Newspaper wrapper from Bucharest to Paris, bearing a splendid block
of four 1869 Prince Carol without beard 10 bani blue, cancelled by
crisp strike of double-circle "BUCURESTI SERA" datestamp (Kiriac
fig. 444), framed 'P.D.' alongside, reverse with WIEN transit cds.
The wrapper shortened at left, some toning, the block of four in an
outstanding quality and beauty, these multiples on cover are almost
unknown, only one other newspaper wrapper to France recorded in the
double rate. Illustrated in Edition d'Or volume 72 on page 142,
cert. Heimbüchler (2016).

even margins all round and of good colour, fine large part og. This
value in unused multiples is of great scarcity, a delightful

1858 Bull's Head 40 parale blue on thin white paper, a magnificent
full sheet of thirty-two subjects (4×8), of excellent fresh colour,
showing the two central horizontal rows vertically tête-bêche
(eight pairs), some tone spots as is prevalent in nearly all the
intact sheets from the iron in the paper utilised, large margins
all round, unfortunately a small part of the gum in the top right
corner has stuck to the backing sheet, otherwise superb, large part
og., mostly unmounted og, with the stamps in the corners hinged.
Exceedingly rare, seldom offered. Michel catalogue value for HINGED
singles and tête-bêche pairs is €11,200 , so for never hinged
should be at least double, without any coefficient for large blocks

10 on grey paper, mostly mint never hinged stamps, in some places
traces oh hinge present, mainly in the margins. Small hinge thin
spot at one green stamp and some perf separation, not detracting
from the fine/very fine condition of these elusive items

stamp (which is always rare 'used abroad'), cancelled by multiple
strikes of "5085" gros chiffres of Galatz in blue. The upper row
with ironed horizontal crease but a most extraordinary and unique
multiple that can be considered the most important item of this
