barred oval ‘P.O.A. 51’ of MARIANNHILL. On the reverse is a triple
oval ‘Trappist Monastery, Marian Hill MAR 1905 handstamp, a
Pinetown 4 MAR transit and Linz 27.III.05. arrival cancel. An
uncommon double weight cover from this post office at the
monastery, which only used the P.O.A. canceller from 1903-1909

an ...di più 1917 stampless cover to London, endorsed 'On Active Service', with an F. P. O. 10 B.C.A. 31 AU 17 squared circle datestamp made from the mutilated 'NENO' canceller. The cover has been endorsed “H. Duff, Lieut-Col, CPO” at the lower left. F .P. O. 10 was at New Langenburg at that time. This canceller, which replaced the mutilated RUO cancel, first being used there on 10 July 1917. A very rare cancel

cancelled PHILIPPOLIS 29 FEB 08. A Philipollis Registration label
is at the upper left (scarce) and on the back are London 21 MR and
Wageningen 22 MR 08 transit and arrival cancels. The thick 'V'
variety is very scarce, particularly on cover, catalogued as a used
stamp at £450 by Stanley Gibbons

'B64' barred oval obliterator of the Seychelles with a 17 JA 88
datestamp beneath. A London FE 3 88 arrival cancel is on the back.
A fine Mauritius used in the Seychelles cover from a well known

On the reverse is a London 12 JA 01 receiving cancel. Also affixed to the reverse is a table of compensation, showing what it costs to insure the contents of a registered letter. A most interesting item, philatelic but an incredible franking and the only time I have seen a Transvaal 10/- used on a cover!

of ...di più 1894 envelope to England bearing a strip of three 1d fiscal stamp of Natal overprinted ZULULAND, tied by ESHOWE JA 15 94 single ring datestamps. On the reverse are Durban JA 17 and Watford FE 13 94 transit and arrival datestamps. The cover was overpaid by a ½d, but at that time there was a shortage of ½d stamps. The single ring ESHOWE canceller (Proud D4) is uncommon. It was only used from 31.5.93. to 2.5.94. On 27 June 1891 a proclamation in the Natal Government Gazette authorised the use of these stamps for postal purposes. A very scarce usage of these stamps. Fine
