1896 U.S.A. STAGECOACH DISASTER. On November 16 1896, due to a
landslide that blocked the road 6 miles north of Laytonville,
Mendocino County, Ca. the stage driver was forced to cross Ten Mile
Creek twice to avoid the blockage. The first crossing was made
safely, but on the second, while attempting to regain the proper
side of the river, the stagecoach overturned. The creek was in
flood and the strong current swept the coach away, killing both the
driver and two horses. An explanatory label was affixed to the
recovered mail which was found four days later. A very scarce
incident, only four covers having been recorded

diverse Belege, Ersttagsbriefe, Einheiten und Kleinbögen. Einiges
Material aus der Schweiz, Österreich, Liechtenstein und Deutschland
vorhanden, aber auch Albanien, Brasilien, China, Nordkorea sowie
diverse arabische und afrikanische Staaten. Unter anderem enthält
die Sammlung einen Pro Juventute Kehrdruckbogen 1953 (JOZ 41),
diverse PJ-FDC und ungebrauchte Einzelmarken, sowie fast alle
DDR-Märchenbögen. Fundgrube mit hohem Katalogwert.
