16): ...di più Postal routes to the Italian States, Kingdom of Italy; 1869 (Aug 16): Printed matter wrapper from Copenhagen to Vicenza, bearing 1864 oval type 2 sk. blue and 3 sk. lilac comb perforated (AFA 11+12), perforation in over-average condition for this issue, tied by '1' numeral with matching KIØBENHAVN despatch cds and framed "P.D." handstamp alongside. Reverse with KIEL - HAMBURG TPO, VERONA transit and VICENZA arrival (Aug 19) cds. Rare rate for printed matter to the Kingdom of Italy in force between 1 October 1867 and 31 August 1869, this item being the only recorded example of this 5 skilling rate and one of only two recorded printed matters sent to Italy in the skilling period. Note: Italy is the most “exotic” destination to which a Danish printed matter has been recorded sent to in the skilling period. In addition, the wrapper is related to an early scientific Archeology conference in Copenhagen taking place 27 August 1869. Provenance: Soler y Llach sale (10 April 2014), lot 138.

bearing Sweden 25ö. tied by Jarpen c.d.s. and bearing, on the
reverse, Tihwa arrival c.d.s. (12.10) and Provincial censor seal
type 5; readdressed to Tahcheng. Also 1928 (13 Sept.) brown paper
newspaper wrapper addressed to Sven Hedin in Urumchi (with Chinese
address below) bearing second Peking print 1c. pair tied by Peiping
English/Chinese c.d.s. and bearing, on the reverse, two strikes of
Tihwa c.d.s. (5.11) and (19.11); part of the front has been
excised. Pays 2c. international newspaper rate; the addressee, Xu
Xushing was a Chinese leader of the North-West Expedition. (2

1765-18233: Two covers bearing pigeon feathers encapsulated within
the wax seals. First item a wrapper sent to Perna, Finland (was
under Swedish rule until 1806 now part of Loviisa, Finland),
addressed "kronorbefallningsmannen" (Crown-order-Man), Noble and
esteemed Mister Elias Malmestedt, who lived in the Manor Tjusterby
(1723-1789), dated 9 August 1765, with manuscript marking of 'three
crowns' with horizontal line indicating 'Crown Mail'. Reverse,
there is a brown pigeon feather within the wax seal, which
symbolised that the letter must "fly" at the highest speed. Second
item a 1833 wrapper sent from Höjentorp to Abrahamstorp near Hjo',
addressed to the district police superintendent 'C. Carlberg', from
Frans Gallander of Stohlan, the 'Kronofogte' (Crown Baliff) at the
tax collector's office, with message: "About artillery horses. Must
be forwarded by riding crown postman under penalty law. Leaving
Stohlan on 1 April 1833 at 1 o'clock in afternoon". Reverse with
red wax seal and white pigeon feather inserted. Under the feather
is a message reads: "Arrived at 12 o'clock noon 2 April and
forwarded at once, Carlberg." Soiling, although most presentable.
Nice combination. Ex. The ‘Izhak Barak’ Collection: The Development
of Aviation and Transportation of Mail by Air until 1914.
