returned, franked with a horizontal pair of the 5c
Trans-Mississippi issue tied by Baltimore, Md. duplex datestamp,
endorsed “Via Queenstown,” addressed initially to a passenger
aboard the S/S Knight Companion at Vladivostok, Russia, then
re-addressed to Port Said, Egypt, and finally returned to New York
City with a clear Dec 21, 1898 arrival backstamp; reverse showing
transits including Port Said (Egypt), Nagasaki (30 Oct 1898), red
London (13 Dec), partial Russian c.d.s., and several additional
indistinct markings, a fine and strikingly well-travelled cover.
