mailed after his abdication, franked by Austria 60 gr. blue tied by
"Nöstsch / Im Galital" datestamp and addressed to Colonel Guy E.C.
Rasch CVO, DSO; at the HQ of the Grenadier Guards in London;
intialled by Edward's "E" in ink at lower left corner of the
envelope and with the Duke of Windsor's seal on reverse flap of the
envelope. Rasch and the Duke had served in the Grenadier Guards
during the First World War. At this date the Duke was staying,
courtesy of the Baron & Baroness Eugene de Rothschild at Schloss
Enzesfeld, whilst awaiting Wallis Simpson's divorce to become
absolute. Edward later stated (Daily Telegraph, March 5, 1967)
"Wallis was in Cannes. The two of us were under stern warning from
our lawyers to avoid even the most casual contact". Rare.

cover to Guernsey tied by oval framed "POST & TELEGRAPH OFFICE /
HARVEY, W.A." datestamp in violet, multi-franked registered 1½d. on
3 d. green card used from ALBANY to Switzerland, 1905 postcard
franked ½ d. green (3) used from KALGOORLIE to England etc. A
generally fine group.
