enclosed letter written at the US Hotel in Saratoga Springs July 12
at 5pm by the wife Anna Wharton to her mother in law who she refers
to as mother, with mention of the letter sent from Montreal, the
stamp is from the same sheet as the first cover proving they were
using stamps that they brought with them, they were on their
honeymoon having been married on June 24, 1852, Very Fine, a very

long sealed tear in address panel and considerable internal wear,
faint stains, the Texian agent from Jan. 29, 1842 to Aug. 18, 1842
was P. Edmonds (who replaced Bryan), he was extremely disgruntled
about his duties and complained the "fees of office would not pay
drayage for mails", he left without formally resigning and Bryan
resumed in his position—this is not only a rare cover to the Texas
Republic during Edmonds tenure, but it is extremely rare as a
letter from Canada to Texas

The carriage fee from Red River to Pembina was 2c and paid in cash with the 10c stamp paying the postage for U.S.-Canada transit, original multi-page letter accompanies. A particularly fine and early example of a U.S. stamp used in pre-federation Canada for carriage via U.S. mails to a destination elsewhere in Canada
