horizontally laid paper, a complete sheet of twenty subjects (5 x
4), with large spot in top left corner on position 1 (Second State
of the Plate), fresh and very fine, horizontal crease between the
second and third rows, unused without gum as issued. An extremely
rare complete sheet Gi = £ 1'800+.

from lower right of sheet (positions 9-10 / 14-15 / 19-20), large
margins all round, tiny thin spot, fresh and fine, without gum as

1926: Inland Postage, 2½ b. black on white unused, imperforate on
horizontally laid paper, a block of four (positions 13-14 / 18-19),
variety "5 bogaches value printed upright on reverse", good margins
all round both on the 2½ b. and on the 5 b. on reverse, without gum
as issued and surprisingly still unlisted by SG, this block most
probably represents the largest multiple now extant of this rare
variety. Signed Joe Saatchi, Todd AIEP. Note: All the examples of
this variety appear to have come from a block of 12 or 14 stamps
formerly belonging to Brigadier Glynn Grylls who stated in an
article in "The Philatelist" of August 1946 "the block is known to
have been purchased at Hodeida in the normal course of Post Office
business..." and in "Stamp Collecting" (February 1958) M.J. Moreton
writes "The rarity, which has the two 'on white' values one on each
side....(maybe) were from a waste sheet that got through, or was
inadveretently reversed, and was printed with the next block of
paper, i.e. the first sheet of the 5 b. value". There was very
little printer's waste in early Yemen adhesives. Provenance:
